Programs & Services

Academic Services

Sacred Heart students are eligible for special services from the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit in speech therapy, remedial reading, instructional support, and gifted/enrichment program, as provided by the State of Pennsylvania under Act 89. Other services may be available as needed.

Students can also receive help in Mathematics from Title I services, provided by federal monies through the Mifflin County and Juniata County school districts. Admission to the Title I program is based on test scores and teacher recommendation.

A service plan is developed for each student identified as eligible for special services.

After-School Program

This program is for parents who wish to have their children safely remain at school from 2:45 to 5:45 p.m. under direct supervision. A modest fee per hour is charged for the use of this service. There is no After-School Program on days when school is not in session or when students are dismissed early.

Breakfast/Lunch Program

Sacred Heart School participates in the National School Lunch Program, National School Breakfast Program, and After-School Snack Program. Children need nutritious meals in order to learn. Each school day, a hot breakfast and lunch are provided at a modest cost. See Breakfast/Lunch Menu

Meal prices for the 2014–2015 academic year are $1.40 for breakfast and $2.50 for lunch. A choice of milk or orange juice is served with breakfast, and milk is served with lunch. Additional milk or juice can be purchased for 35¢.

Reduced-price meals and free meals are available to students who qualify. Free milk and snacks are also available to qualifying students and to students who attend the After-School Program.

Any student who forgets a packed lunch will be directed to get an alternative lunch, which will be posted on the monthly menu. Parents are not permitted to bring fast-food lunches to the cafeteria during lunch time.

Bus Transportation

The Mifflin County and Juniata County School Districts provide free bus transportation, to and from school, for Sacred Heart School students who reside in these districts.
